My tummy is growing.

Our nursery curtains are being put up today.

The cot was assembled ages ago.

Next week we hope to find out whether we are having a boy or a girl.

Can hardly believe we’re expecting a baby!!!!

My news for the week: My cat is ‘expanding her territory’. And my nerves are shot.

Our neighbours cleared out the bush against our fence. Which means Maggie can now find her way through… but not necessarily back.

YOU try to explain to your neighbour with the 3 huge boerboels that, even though your cat could get into his yard all by herself, she is crying and someone else needs to get her out.

Try explaining it two nights in a row.

Sigh. It’s just embarrassing.

when weekends were just weekends.

No desperate ‘catching up’ to meet deadlines. No bookings. No fairs to go to. No dressing up.

Saturdays meant the beach, or sleeping late, or braais…

Until there’s a spider in the house. Then I scream like a girl and my husband must come and catch it, whether he’s comfortable with it or not.

is when your cat is lying on the carpet, making little clicking noises (the noises she makes when she wants something really badly)… but she won’t get up to chase the insect she’s after! (Probably hoping I’ll bring it to her! LOL!)

Lately, weekends mean two things: for Saturdays, it means a 9 – 5 at the Lady Marmalaide studio. This can, actually, be lots of fun. I get to meet new people, play ‘doll’ with them, and make them feel like princesses. It is very tiring though, so it also means that I’m knackered by Saturday night… Sundays mean working in the house. Putting stuff up, scrubbing, organising, generally getting to things that otherwise we won’t get to.

Does that make me a ‘responsible’ grown-up, or does it simply mean I’m boring??

Actually, don’t bother answering that.

How to find a sleeping-spot (if you’re a kitty):

Walk around the house, checking every surface (the higher the better, unless it’s in a deep, dark corner). Find a box, or a container of some sort. (Not too big of course, you’re aiming for a snug fit.) Once container/box has been located, check inside. Does it a) have sides to prevent you from stretching out; b) contain ‘stuff’ that will restrict movement; and, c) is it oddly balanced, preferably on a corner of a table? If you can tick at least two of these, you have found a potentially suitable sleeping spot.

Now: climb in, tentatively. Look up at your owner, as if to say, “Do you see what you have left in this thing?!”, squeeze in, roll yourself into a ball, put your tail over your eyes, and go to sleep.

And that’s how it’s done!
